Glamping simply takes traditional camping and makes it Glamourous!!! It weaves together the best parts of camping; being surrounded by nature, fires and smores, lazing in a hammock and the best parts of traditional lodging; climate control, private bathroom and cozy indoor and outdoor spaces and creates a serene environment where you can take a big deep breath and immerse your senses in Mother Nature. Rooted Domes takes it one step further by using unique design styles which aim to delight all the senses with color and texture.

Regardless of your camping experience, arrive optimistic and with kid’s eyes and you will leave recharged and reconnected! Welcome to Rooted Domes!

2. Experienced Camper? Glamping will be next-level for you! You will be in your element, but without lugging around equipment! Your back wont hurt in the morning and meals will be much more than hotdogs and beans!. The hard work is already done and a cozy bed and climate control awaits you. More time for the fun stuff!

3. Need a compromise? Maybe you are experienced but your traveling partner isn’t into camping? Glamping will suit both of those needs; that outdoor experience for the hardcore camper and all the luxuries for the not so inclined! Truly, the best of both worlds!

THE Not So SMALL PRINT: If “Glamping” does NOT elicit excitement and stir your adventurous side, more than likely we are not for you. If the thought of encountering a bug visitor concerns you, glamping is probably not for you. And thats okay! Glamping is not for everyone and we understand this!

Rooted Domes is in beautiful Vinton County, Ohio! Right between the popular Hocking Hills State Park and the lively town of Athens, Ohio. It’s about a 30 min drive to either destination. However, Rooted Domes sits on its own 18 acres and is backed by the 27,000 acre Zaleski State Forest. You can walk out of your dome and connect with the State Forest hiking or mountain biking trails!

There are 2 domes that sit about 100 ft apart, facing opposite directions. They are far enough apart to give privacy yet close enough that friends can rent out both units. The Bathhouse is located <100’ from either dome and houses two bathrooms, one designated for each dome.

Yes! Each dome is carefully designed to thrill the senses with color and texture.

Dome 1 A 24’ diameter geodesic domes offering 450 sq ft of interior space. The design is inspired by the soft pinks and purples of a fantasy woodland.  The bay window faces a ravine with sweeping views of the forest and ample opportunity for wildlife viewing. There is a cozy living area and a king sized bed with plush bedding!

Dome2: A 20’ diameter geodesic dome offering  350 sq ft of interior space. Its bay window overlooks a winding creek and also has ample opportunity for wildlife viewing . To maximize the interior space the kitchen is tucked  under a loft which hosts a queen size bed (accessed by a sturdy ships ladder). While laying in bed you can take advantage of the moon viewing window which provides a mesmerizing porthole to the swaying treetops by day and the clouds and stars at night.

Yes, the doors to the domes are equipped with a keyless entry system. An entry code will be sent before arrival. Each Bathroom has a key if you wish to keep personal belongings inside.

Yes! Each dome has a smokeless firepit on the deck!

One bundle of firewood is provided with your stay and you can purchase additional bundles for $10 with cash or Venmo.

Two Mile Creek is a seasonal creek that runs through the property so bring some old shoes and explore! The site also contains the owners private residence where you will likely find her being harassed by two orange cats who think dinner time is all the time!

No. Rooted Domes is an adult only experience because, well, sometimes an adult only vacation is just what you need!

Sort of! the Cocoon is the only unit that is pet friendly and it can accomodate one dog. However, due to ladder access to the bed, the dog will have to sleep on ground level.

A dog bed, dog bowls and clean up bags are provided. I ask that you use provided sheets to cover the couch to help future guests who may have allergy issues!

Any breed of well behaved dog, 80lbs or less, is welcome, however, excessive barking or disturbance of other guests on the property can lead to immediate removal with no refund!

Yes, the domes are insulated and are equipped with air conditioning to keep you deliciously cool in the summer and heat to keep you toasty warm in the winter. Every season has something to offer in the forest!

We do have Wi-Fi but we strongly encourage guests to disconnect during their stay at Rooted Domes.  Here you will find  a unique opportunity to disengage from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and just BE.  Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the surrounding forest and indulge your senses with an array of engaging activities to enhance your stay, including games, puzzles, coloring books, musical instruments, yoga mats, and much more!

No!!! If you have T-mobile you may receive a weak signal in the winter only. However, we still encourage you to disconnect during your stay. Emails will always wait for you!

Urgent Cares and the closest ER will be listed in my handbook. Please familiarize yourself with it upon arrival in case an Emergency arises. For minor accidents, we have a First Aid kit in each bathroom.

With my deepest regrets, No. Access to the domes requires trail like stairs to the site and traditional stairs to the domes themselves.

No, we have designed the site to be accessible by foot only. Why?

-The transition from leaving your car and walking to the domes is part of the experience! It slowly transports you into your new world!

-We want the forest to stay the forest, no car doors slamming, no car alarms, no stinky fumes and no headlights alarming the deer!

Utility luggage carts will be provided at the car park. They will get you to the bottom of the hill that the domes sit on. From there you will have to carry your stuff the reaming 100ft to the domes! But don’t fret! We provide almost everything for the coziest of stays so pack light!!! Just clothes and food should do it!

A sense of curiosity and adventure to start with!

Appropriate clothes for the forecasted weather.

Any food or drink items for your stay. (don’t forget, coffee/tea/creamer, oils, a variety of  seasonings and 6 local eggs provided)

Basic toiletries  (we provide locally made shampoo, conditioner and soap… and the deer don’t care if you do your hair or wear makeup!)
